In the mountainous, subtropical highlands of Nantou County, an internationally beloved monoculture blooms.
Just shy of 83% of Nantou County is consumed by craggy mountains and dense forests, a rich environment in which Nantou County’s premier crop — tea — thrives. There, rows upon rows of neatly arranged, well-maintained tea plants flow across the landscape, terracing up and down the hilly terrain.
Each of Nantou County’s many plantations produces a unique crop, distinct in character and indebted to the unique land and climatic conditions in which it was grown.
To share the region’s exquisite tea culture and bring yet another small slice of Taiwan to Seattle, we’re excited to announce a new addition to our menu: Four Seasons Oolong.
So named because the region’s temperate conditions allow farmers to produce high-quality tea during every season, Four Seasons Oolong is Taiwanese tea at its finest. Each crop carries the unique notes of seasonal variation, leading to subtle alterations in flavor and fragrance.
Our Four Seasons Oolong is a spring cultivar, a fact evident in its bright body, floral aroma, and nectar-like finish — all of which evoke sensations of soft sunshine and young blooms.
To put Nantou County’s tea culture to the test, join us at our brick-and-mortar in Wallingford and give our new additions to the menu a try:
* Order a Four Seasons Oolong to enjoy the tea in its truest form: subtly floral with a pleasant softness, honeyed finish, and smooth, clean body.
* Or, add a splash of citrus — and an additional dimension to its already complex profile — with the Four Seasons Oolong Plus.
Can’t join us in person? Although no two Taiwanese oolong teas will be quite the same, you can try it out at home with the sought-after Supreme High Mountain tea or other oolong varieties, such as Golden Lily or Baozhong.
Better yet, each is equally excellent when brewed cold — a method you can easily replicate at home. So, whether you join us in person or brew at home, we hope you’ll find as much joy in exploring the world of Taiwanese oolong tea as we do!
